About Becky Gutsell
Mother. Artist. Entrepreneur.
It all started when my son Gabriel was born. As he began to walk, the winter rain and London snow couldn’t stomp out his little steps, but the wrong shoes sure did. He needed a pair that would be tough on the weather but not rough on his precious feet. On my hunt, I soon found out the perfect shoe didn’t exist. So my husband suggested I create it.
Using the skills I honed at the London College of Fashion and Prescott & Mackay, I dusted off an old post sewing machine and stitched together my first set of baby high tops by hand. As the seasons changed, so did the shoes I made, and I’m proud to report that since then, Gabe’s been putting them through the paces and giving them top marks.
After a move to Los Angeles, I was blessed with my daughter Galatea, our second bundle of G. Keeping up with two adventurous kids meant lugging around that dreaded overstuffed diaper bag. But once I realized all I really needed was enough for a quick change, I designed a changing bag that could fit in the palm of my hand. It has proven itself to be so handy that I’ve wanted to share it with other mothers ever since.
And that’s how Gg bebe was born — from a labour of love.
